ETC

This year the European Telemedicine Conference (ETC) 2016 is part of the E-health in Norway Future Health (EHiN-FH 2016) in Oslo 15th and 16th of November 2016.

It will combine the efforts of several leading European healthcare organisations into two powerful days of health and innovation! The ETC collaborates with prominent healthcare delivery organisations, governmental leaders, clinicians, researchers and university faculties to address and discuss the latest innovations in telemedicine. In 2016 ETC is hosted by the ETC partner Norwegian Centre for E-health Research.

To register for ETC, go to the main registration page here. By doing so, you will have full access to both the ETC program and conference. Many of the EHiN-FH sessions will also be held in English.

Program

ETC is excited to present several new concepts such as the Scientific Track and the ETC Track. All sessions presented by ETC, as well as several EHiN sessions, will be presented in English. For a complete overview of the sessions, see the Program page.

  • What are the latest trends in Europe on implementing telemedicine? Get the updated status from Norway, Scotland, Denmark and Catalonia.
  • Evaluation of telemedicine: Why do we do it? How can we do it better?
  • What are the success factors for large-scale remote monitoring projects?
  • Meet patients whose strong voices are part of shaping the future in telemedicine.
  • Validation on mHealth apps, we look at concrete national cases and then discuss pros and cons with representatives from the EU commission, the EU parliament and Mobile World Capital.
  • Get the most relevant updates on telemedicine research in Europe in our second track dedicated only to scientific research.

Workshops and pre-conference

Educational workshop: Deploying telehealth services in real life – 18 critical success factors.

We recommend this educational workshop to the public sector in their beginning of scaling up their telehealth and telecare services. MOMENTUM’s 18 critical success factors will enable telemedicine ‘doers’ to understand all the actions that they need to take, from leadership to operations, to expand and enhance telehealth services in their local settings.

We have the pleasure of inviting you to Sunnaas Hospital, one of Europe’s leading hospitals, specializing in medical rehabilitation. The hospital has since the 1990’s worked with telemedicine solutions for their patient groups and has successfully integrated telemedicine in their services. They are considered one of the best Norwegian hospitals on polyclinical telemedicine, remote monitoring, home monitoring and using care at home through telemedicine.

Workshop: Patients’ digital access to their health record: A service for all?

The workshop is targeting everyone who has experience with using, planning, implementing, or researching a service for patients’ digital access to their health record.  The workshop aims to increase the knowledge in Europe regarding the patients’ access to their health record by discussing technical, legal, organizational, practical and cultural barriers for a service for all, as well as investigating possibilities for the future.

Scientific track

The European Telemedicine Conference 2016 highlights research and operational evidence from innovative healthcare solutions. As such, the goal is to address challenges and findings from new product development, effect-oriented studies, and operational experiences.
ETC16 abstracts are published in a supplement to the International Journal of Integrated Care (IJIC).

The competition focuses on new solutions for future health using information and communication technologies with respect to health challenges. The solutions presented for the competition can be anything in the field of

homecare and telemedicine tools,

patient empowerment and communication,

health information support systems,

administrative support systems,

teaching solutions and

solutions for treatment and care.

ETC Innovation Competition

The showground for new solutions and technology in the field of health care at the European Telemedicine Conference. The ETC Innovation Competition is an international contest focusing on new innovative ideas in the field of E-health and telemedicine.

Two categories:

  • Young Innovators
  • Start-ups

The competition has two categories:

Young Innovators

  • All participants must be under 30 years of age as of 1st of November 2016.
  • The innovation team can participate as long as their idea is still in the development phase.
  • Companies may also participate provided they did not exist before 1 June, 2016
  • If the idea is presented by a commercial company, they can not have earned more then €50,000 since the company’s establishment.
  • If the idea is presented by a research group, or a member of a research group, the supervisor does not have to fulfill the age criteria.

Startup:

  • The startup must have been launched within the last 2 years
  • If the startup has received external funding, it can only be up to €500,000.
  • The startup must have a demonstrable product or service

How to participate?

  1. Send an application to eli.kristiansen@telemed.no where you describe your innovative solution. Deadline: 20 September 2016See criteria for participation and application in ETC Innovation Competition 2016 Rules and regulations
  1. The ETC Innovation Committee will evaluate the applications and select the best three in each category.
  2. If selected, you or your group will be invited to Oslo 15 November  to pitch your idea in front of the professional jury and audience at a session on the European Telemedicine Conference.
  3. The winners in each category will win a travel to the WoHIT Conference  Exhibition in Barcelona the 21 and 22 November 2016 to present their  winning concept for an international crowd at a plenary session.

15 November 2016: Presentation of the finalists at the ETC in Oslo 

21 and 22 November 2016: Presentation of the two winning concepts at a plenary session at WoHIT in Barcelona
